1) Train Yourself to Live in Your Future Reality
Visualization can be a powerful tool in making your dreams as real as your present.
When you imagine your future success, use all of your senses to build a picture of what you can see, smell, hear, taste, and feel. What are you wearing? How do you feel? What are you eating? What’s different in how you experience your future success?
2) See It from Different Viewpoints
Envision yourself in the future not only from your vantage point, but from an outside perspective. What would your family say about the future you? What would your colleagues notice that is different about you in your more polished reality? Imagine the audience rising to the feet as you walk up to accept your award. See the interview chair shake your hand as they offer you the job. Make it as real as you can in your mind so that your behaviors make it a reality.
3) Make the Future Present
Visualization can also help you to behave like the future, successful you. Build a more polished persona by asking yourself, "how would the person that I am becoming handle this conversation?" What would the future you say if they were offered an opportunity? If you rehearse your future success, it will eventually become your present reality.
4) Boost Your Visualization Practice
You can add other techniques to boost the power of your visualization practice. Find affirmations and self-talk prompts that are meaningful for you and add them to your visualization practices. You can write down encouraging mantras and post them on your bathroom mirror, or as your computer or smartphone wallpaper. Surround yourself with positivity.
5) Make A Vision Board
A vision board is simply a collection of images and words that encapsulate your aspirations. Habakkuk 2:2-3 Then the Lord answered me and said, “Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets, that the one who reads it may run. For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay (KJV). It can be a corkboard, whiteboard, or Pinterest board. Collect pictures and affirmations that really speak to your vision and to the person you want to be. Keep your vision board in plain sight and remind yourself that what you want is achievable!
